Inter Milan vice-president weighs in on Unitedβs pursuit of Andre Onana
Inter Milanβs vice-president has opened up on Manchester Unitedβs interest in their first-choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana. Β
It was announced yesterday evening that the Red Devils had submitted a verbal β¬45 million proposal for the Cameroon international, though the Serie A club now value him at β¬60m, so whether or not United will meet their price tag remains to be seen.
The two clubs may opt to meet in the middle for a fee close to, say, β¬50m. Erik ten Hag has set his sights firmly on a reunion with Onana, whom he coached at Ajax, to replace David de Gea between the sticks at Old Trafford next term.
Inter VP Javier Zanetti was quizzed on the transfer speculation during the Menarini Fair Play awards today and said (via TuttoMercatoWeb):Β βWhen you have important players itβs normal that there are requests, but for now Onana is one of our players and we hope to keep all the important ones. The transfer market has just begun, anything can change, but Inter have always shown themselves at the top when building important teams.β
Ten Hagβs targets
Ten Hag will likely want any new recruits in as soon as possible in order to ensure theyβve adequately trained with the squad ahead of the new campaign. He welcomed his first signing of the summer, Mason Mount, to Carrington earlier this week, with the club unveiling him as a new Red today.
