(Video) Andre Onana requests post-match interview to take accountability for early error
Andre Onana specifically requested that he be the one to speak to the media following Manchester Unitedβs 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich.
The goalkeeper did make an early mistake when Leroy Saneβs strike bundled under him to open the scoring for the home side. Just four minutes later, they doubled their lead.
Bayern eventually overturned the Red Devils with four goals to three, marking a third consecutive loss for Erik ten Hagβs side.
Onana took full responsibility for his errors when coming out for the post-match interview, saying: βItβs difficult. I think in the beginning we were good but after my mistake, we lost control of the gameβ¦ I am the one who let the team down.Β
βMy start in Manchester is not so good. Today is one of my worst games. It was a big opportunity for us to bounce back from the pressure weβre facing, but itβs tough. We have to be together.β
“I’m the one who let the team down.”
“It’s because of me we didn’t win this game.”
“I have to learn from it.”
