Tim Sherwood impressed with brave Manchester United midfielder vs Burnley
Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has been receiving plaudits after his solid performance against Burnley on Saturday.
The 20-year-old started his first game for the seniors after coming through Unitedβs academy, a week after coming off the bench to score a superb strike against Brighton.
Hannibal showed great intensity off the ball and created two goalscoring chances throughout the game. On top of that, he defensive work was second to none β winning 100% of his tackles against Burnley.
To Hannibalβs credit, he didnβt look like a young boy playing against men. He was able to fight his corner and Ten Hag will see his performance as a positive moving forward.
It comes as no surprise that Hannibalβs performance is drawing attention.
Tim Sherwood was left impressed with his display at the weekend. The former top-flight manager turned pundit told Premier League Productions (via Metro): βA real positive from the performance when I look at the individual performance for Man United, Hannibal I thought was good.
βHe was brave, I thought he looked for the ball whenever he was. Out of possession he looked like he was going with urgency wherever he was to go and get it back.
βI think he had a great game and he can only get better, I just hope he stays in the team. He earned the right rather than one of the superstars coming back and getting in ahead of him, which is not good for team morale and team spirit.β
Hannibal could start consecutive games when United take on Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
