Premier League confirms officials for Manchester United vs Luton Town
The match officials have been confirmed for Manchester United vs Luton Town.
Erik ten Hagβs side will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing at Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday night. That result puts our European journey in doubt as we sit bottom of Group A with two more games to play.
However, United have been at the forefront of refereeing and VAR decisions this season. We spoke about it on the latest podcast and I donβt know many fans who are in favour of it β or who even wanted the technology introduced in the first place!
Last time out in the Premier League, Scott McTominay controversially had a goal ruled out for offside. Harry Maguire was deemed to be in an offside position but the centre-back never touched the ball. Instead, Alejandro Garnacho crossed the ball towards McTominay at the back post.
United will be hoping that the officials wonβt be taking the headlines this season because it happened again on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
Graham Scott will be leading the officialsβ team as referee in what will be his second top-flight fixture of the season. It will be his eight Manchester United game as referee and weβve won the previous seven. The assistant referees will be Neil Davies and Eddie Smart.
However, the controversial role of VAR will be managed by Robert Jones, with Simon Long assisting him.
The fourth official will be Darren England β standing between Erik ten Hag and Rob Edwards on the touchline.
