United could lose another starter to AFCON in January as 25 y/o mulls over international allegiance switch
Manchester Unitedβs Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been approached by DR Congo in regards to representing them at next yearβs Africa Cup of Nations, as per The Athletic.
The right-back played one game for Congoβs under-20 side in 2015 before opting to switch to England, where he featured for both the under-20s and under-21s. He has never earned a senior Three Lions cap despite being called up by Gareth Southgate in 2019.
Now, Wan-Bissaka is mulling over his international career ahead of the tournament in 2024. Should he accept their proposal, he could miss around four weeksβ worth of club action; AFCON runs from January 13 to February 11.

Elsewhere in Erik ten Hagβs squad, Andre Onana also looks set to represent his native Cameroon, as well as on-loan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat with Morocco, Hannibal Mejbri with Tunisia and Amad Diallo with Ivory Coast.
