Certain figures at Manchester United are of the belief that Chelsea could ignite a formal approach for Jadon Sancho before the window closes on August 30.

As it stands, the winger’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain – despite him and Erik ten Hag deciding to bury the hatchet on their feud at the beginning of July.

He has since returned to first-team training and featured off-the-bench in the Reds’ Community Shield defeat to Manchester City, proceeding to miss his spot-kick in the penalty shootout.

Last Friday, when United got their Premier League campaign underway at home to Fulham, Sancho was absent from the squad with what Erik ten Hag cited as an ear infection.

Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be avid admirers of the 24-year-old as they continue scouring the market for prolific attackers to fill their Kylian Mbappe-sized void. As well as that, forward Goncalo Ramos sustained a severe ankle injury and will now be sidelined for an extended period, which may prompt the board to target reinforcements.

Sancho to Stamford Bridge?

Per a fresh update from The Athletic this morning, United ‘sense’ that their Premier League rivals Chelsea could yet accelerate their interest in Sancho, who is keen to acquire regular game time elsewhere.

He is valued at £40 million – a significantly lower fee than the £73m forked out for him in 2021. Yet, a major stumbling block for potential suitors is his £250,000-a-week wages.

Laurie Whitwell adds that it’s a ‘live situation’, so fans can expect developments in the coming days.
