β€˜Going to be massive’ – McCoist hails Manchester United star set to return from injury

Former Scotland international turned pundit Ally McCoist has said that the return of Rasmus Hojlund will be a massive boost for Manchester United.

With two goals scored in the first three games of the Premier League, it would be fair to say United have been toothless in attack.

The Reds will be aiming to get back to winning ways after losing their last two matches. It’s been a sluggish start to the season but hopefully, this weekend’s trip to Southampton ends on a positive note.

Hojlund has missed the first three games of the season after picking up a hamstring injury on the pre-season tour. There have been whispers that he is stepping up his recovery and could return in the team soon.

It remains to be seen if Hojlund will be available to face the Saints on Saturday.

Speaking to talkSPORT, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, McCoist said: β€œRasmus HΓΈjlund coming back from injury is going to be massive for Manchester United.

β€œThey look toothless going forwards at the moment – they play some nice football on occasion, but there’s no real cutting edge and they don’t have a proper goalscorer in the box to attack crosses and through balls. Even when they beat Fulham there appeared to be a lack of presence in the area.

β€œI thought HΓΈjlund had a good first season at the club considering he came in from a different league, but he has to step up again and bring the goals that United are crying out for. The first few games of the season have shown exactly what United are missing. It’ll be a big responsibility for him but we’ll see how everything plays out”
