‘Will hold talks this week’: League winners step up pursuit of dissatisfied United star as exit edges closer
Napoli will reignite their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho in the coming days after failing with a £45 million bid in January.
Indeed, the Serie A champions are preparing to test Manchester United’s resolve once again and will perhaps feel as though they have a slight upper hand after it became public knowledge that Ruben Amorim had informed Garnacho to find a new club this summer.
It came after a bombshell interview in the aftermath of last Wednesday’s Europa League final, in which the player rued the fact he’d been dropped for the tie, labelled United’s season as ‘sh*t’ and hinted at a potential move away when finishing his media duties by saying: “I’ll enjoy my summer and then we’ll see.”
Garnacho bids farewell to Old Trafford after Aston Villa exile

Alas, it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when Garnacho was omitted entirely from Amorim’s matchday squad for the final game of the Premier League campaign yesterday. He was, however, in attendance at Old Trafford, and participated in the lap of appreciation at full-time with his partner and son.
With it now all but set in stone that the Argentine has played his last competitive match for United, Napoli are mulling over how they can be successful in their attempts to sign the star this time around.
Napoli to revive Garnacho interest this week
According to Peter Hall, Sporting Director Giovanni Manna ‘will hold talks with United this week’ to try and hash out a deal for Garnacho in a transfer that would see him reunite with former teammate and fellow academy graduate Scott McTominay, whose career has flourished since swapping Manchester for Naples.

INEOS will demand around £60m for the 20-year-old, which is a fair valuation for a youngster with 144 senior appearances, 26 goals and 22 assists to his name.
Garnacho signed from Atletico Madrid’s youth ranks in 2020 for a fee of £420,000, so his sale will generate pure profit for United.
