Fabrizio Romano reveals Man United plan to sign ‘incredible’ EPL star: “The interest is genuine”

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Manchester United are laying plans to recruit flourishing Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils are on the verge of signing Wolverhampton attacker Matheus Cunha who will be the club’s first summer reinforcement.

INEOS have already struck an agreement with the player on personal terms, and are now working on activating the Brazilian’s release clause, which is worth £62.5 million.

Nevertheless, Romano had previously revealed that Cunha might not be United’s solitary addition for the attacking department, as the club could decide to add another attacking midfielder/winger to their ranks.

The Italian journalist didn’t reveal any names at first, but in the latest video update on his official YouTube channel, he identified Mbeumo as a potential candidate for the role.

Romano insists that Man Utd’s interest in the French Cameroonian is ‘genuine’, even though signing him won’t be easy due to the high cost of the operation and the stern competition for his services.

It has also been reported by several sources earlier on Monday that United have made first contact with the winger, while Brentford are seeking £50 million to part ways with their prized asset.

Man United interested in Bryan Mbeumo

Mbeumo is a Troyes youth product who signed for The Bees in the summer of 2019. The 25-year-old has been a regular feature for the club for quite some time now, but he truly exploded on the scene this season, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League.

The winger struck a brilliant partnership with his Brentford teammate Yoane Wissa, and their manager Thomas Frank described the duo as ‘incredible’.

But while most Man Utd fans would be happy to accommodate Mbeumo, some would note that the club already possesses a competent inverted right winger in Amad Diallo, so they would be better off spending the money on other roles, especially given the dire need for a top-class striker.
