Alejandro Garnachoโ€™s brother calls out Rio Ferdinand over โ€˜fakeโ€™ Lionel Messi story

Alejandro Garnachoโ€™s brother calls out Rio Ferdinand over โ€˜fakeโ€™ Lionel Messi story

Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho was at the centre of a fake story involving Lionel Messi.

As a result, Garnachoโ€™s brother Roberto took to social media to rubbish claims that came from former United and England defender Rio Ferdinand.

Speaking on his Vibe with Five show on Monday, Ferdinand joked that Messi took offence against his young Argentina teammate on Instagram because the 19-year-old views Cristiano Ronaldo as the GOAT (greatest of all-time).

โ€œMy lad said to me Messiโ€™s unfollowed him [Garnacho], heโ€™s said Messiโ€™s unfollowed him!โ€ Ferdinand said.

โ€œBecause he comes out, doesnโ€™t care, [and says] โ€˜Iโ€™m a Ronaldo man. Whoโ€™s the GOAT? Ronaldoโ€™. When heโ€™s in the Argentina squad.โ€

In a direct response to the video, Roberto Garnacho denied that his brother was ever followed by Messi on Instagram.

โ€œFake, Messi never followed him, stop making stuff up just to create hate, Garna loves and admires both of them and you all trying to creating a rivalry,โ€ Roberto Garnacho wrote on X.

Was sarcasm broโ€ฆ

โ€œIโ€™ve even seen videos of Messi showing theย World Cupย to Garna, mate if u knew how we celebrated it at home.โ€

A follow up tweet from Roberto added: โ€œWow, This isnโ€™t even targeted to Rio specifically it was just the incorrect info on Garnaโ€™s name about this from many people in general, wanted to just make it clear!โ€

It also prompted a response from Ferdinand, who says his claim was sarcastic (?).

Believe anything Ferdinand says with a pinch of salt.
