Alongside Garnacho: £150k-a-week Utd star once hailed as the ‘best in the Prem’ is ‘not in Amorim’s plans’
An unexpected report on Saturday afternoon revealed that Ruben Amorim had instructed Alejandro Garnacho to find a new club.
When the youngster was then omitted from Manchester United’s matchday squad for their final home game of the campaign the subsequent day, fans had conceded that they’d seen the last of Garnacho in a red shirt.
Indeed, his tenure at the club is poised to come to an end after five years. He joined for £420,000 from Atletico Madrid’s youth ranks in 2020 and is now valued by United in the region of £60 million.
As well as Garnacho – Luke Shaw urged to find a new club
It’s not only the Argentine who’s seemingly failed to impress the boss, whether that be through attitude or application.
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Luke Shaw is ‘not in Amorim’s plans’ for his first full season in charge and the defender is reportedly ‘ready to leave’ in the summer.
It’ll come as no surprise to supporters to learn of United’s desire to sell Shaw. His unrelenting injury woes have seen him limited to just 20 starts across the last two seasons, as well as a 14-month gap between Premier League starts from 2023/2024 to 2024/2025.
Why it’s time for United and Shaw to call it a day

There’s no questioning the player’s ability when fit – at one stage, ex-teammate Alex Telles hailed Shaw as ‘the best in the Prem’, which you couldn’t really dispute when at his best.
Glimpses of such have been few and far between, though, and it’s reached the point where he is simply too inconsistent to rely upon for an entire term.
The problem, however, will be finding a buyer for the £150,000-a-week star, who’s contracted to the club until June 2027.
Shaw, 29, has made 12 appearances since Amorim took the reins last November, most recently playing the full 90 minutes of United’s Europa League final defeat in Bilbao last Thursday, during which he sustained a minor setback and was ruled out of yesterday’s final game of the campaign against Aston Villa.
