Benfica demand β¬120m for Goncalo Ramos after World Cup heroics
Manchester United have discovered how much it will cost to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos after his recent World Cup display.
Ramos, 21, has took Cristiano Ronaldoβs place in the Portugal line-up since the round of 16, scoring a hat-trick in a convincing 6-1 win over Switzerland. Fernando Santosβ side performed far better as Ronaldo sat on the bench β so the manager has opted for the same starting XI to face Morocco.
According to Jornal de Notices, as cited by Sport Witness, Benfica are not willing to negotiate below Ramosβ release clause of β¬120 million.
The report claims Manchester United will face competition for Ramosβ signature from clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Wolves and Newcastle United.
That said, itβs extremely difficult to see any of these clubs forking out β¬120m for Ramos.
This season he broke onto the scene thanks to Darwin Nunezβ exit and Benfica are bound to try maximise the profits they can make on players.
However, a transfer valuation like β¬120m could price Ramos out of a move next summer, unless Benfica change their demands.
United need to sign a goalscorer but it remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag will target a traditional number 9.
