Bruno Fernandes responds to Cristiano Ronaldo interview and viral clip of national team meet up
Bruno Fernandes has exhibited his professionalism with a classy response to Cristiano Ronaldoβs exclusive interview, as well as rumours of a βfrostyβ reception between the pair.
Despite sometimes being a nuisance to referees on the pitch, Fernandes is as respectful as it gets off of it. The midfielder refused to be drawn into the reporterβs loaded questions when being asked about the ongoing Ronaldo situation.
The two will likely only be playing alongside each other at international level from now on, as the 37-year-old has essentially cut off all ties with United.
The clip also shows why Fernandes makes such a good leader, something that is clear when he dons the armband for the Red Devils.
Fernandesβ response
He was questioned by Sky Sports on Ronaldoβs comments and responded: βI didnβt read the interview so Iβm ok with that. As I said before, now his national team is Portugal, I said to him, βThe coach made a point that itβs us, he made that point since I came to the national team in 2017, that is still clear. In his mind, the main thing is national team and us, so we have to be focused on the World Cup.β

Regarding the viral clip of the pair in the Portugal dressing room and Fernandes giving Ronaldo a βcold shoulderβ, he questioned: βWhy do you say that? Did you hear it with the sound? Ah ok, you have to.β

He then went on to explain how in Portugal, a show talked about the βcoldβ incident for 45 minutes without adding the clipβs audio. When the audio was added and it was clear both players were joking with one another, the show briefly updated viewers that it was a βjokeβ, but the footage had already been edited to create drama.
Fernandes added: βManchester United will be my focus after the World Cup, after 18th December, because that is the final.β
When questioned by the reporter if Fernandes had a βproblemβ with Ronaldo, he classily replied: βI have no problem with anyone. I do my job. One time one manager said to me, βEverything that you can control is yourselfβ so, I think everyone thinks the same way. You have to control yourself, give your best and thatβs it.β
