Cristiano Ronaldo is the solution for Man United, says Fabrizio Romano
Cristiano Ronaldo is enduring the most difficult spell of his career after he failed to get a move away from Manchester United in the summer.
The 37-year-old was keen to leave Old Trafford just 12 months after his spectacular return in 2021 but the lack of suitors meant that he ended up staying put.
Erik ten Hag, the new manager, has been reluctant to use Ronaldo from the start and the Portuguese star has started just two games in the league this season.
In his latest appearance, against Newcastle over the weekend, he was the only player to be withdrawn from the game and Ronaldo was visibly upset at being taken off.
Speaking after Sundayβs disappointing 0-0 draw, journalist Fabrizio Romano has now weighed in on the situation and given his thoughts on Ronaldoβs precarious standing.
βMan Utd struggled in attack again yesterday as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle, so will they make changes up front in January?β Romano said on CaughtOffside.
βThere are some good options out there β I always mentionΒ Jonathan DavidΒ as I think heβs really underrated and could be a great solution, but we have to wait for the World Cup to see which clubs will move for him.
βI think itβs just a difficult moment for Man Utd without scoring goals; and I also thinkΒ Cristiano RonaldoΒ can never be described as a problem, only a solution for the team. I wouldnβt panic β Iβm sure they will be back scoring goals very soon.β
The transfer expert argues that although the last two months have been highly turbulent, any suggestions of Ronaldo being a problem in the side are wide of the mark.
SNβs verdictβ¦
We donβt know for sure how Ronaldoβs behaviour and demeanor are off the pitch but itβs clear for everyone to see that his body language on the pitch leaves a lot to be desired.
Failing to score is not a problem for supporters as long as players are trying but resorting to flailing arms and constant complaining can turn toxic quite quickly.
Nevertheless, Ronaldo will stay for at least another two months and maybe an exit in January is on the cards β a sad state of affairs following his fairytale return last year.
