David de Gea’s contract talks with Manchester United have stalled significantly in recent weeks.

Consequently, the Spaniard could be on his way out of Old Trafford after 12 years at the club.

According to The Mirror, De Gea is unwilling to see his wages reduced from £375,000 a week, as he sits atop the squad’s earnings list. His current deal will expire on June 30 and up until now, supporters believed he would be signing an extension and continue between the sticks next season.

However, if an agreement cannot be reached between De Gea and the club, he will see out his contract and leave at the end of the month.

To be honest, it would be the best option for all parties if he moves on this summer. De Gea, 32, has been an excellent servant of United but has seen his reputation tarnished over the past few seasons due to poor form and countless errors.

United are already in the market for a new goalkeeper to rival the position but, given his situation, a new arrival could take the No.1 position and number entirely.
