De Ligt and Mazraoui available to face Fulham, says Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag says Manchester United’s two new signings will be available to face Fulham in the first game of the new Premier League season on Friday night.

Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui completed their moves to United from Bayern Munich on Tuesday, with preparations stepped up since for the opening game of the season.

They could both make their debuts against the Cottagers as a result.

β€œThey will be in the squad,” said Ten Hag, when asked about the former Bayern duo, as quoted by ManUtd.com.

Ten Hag also confirmed that Harry Maguire is fit and available, while he only expects Luke Shaw to be ruled out for the short-term future due to a calf injury.

β€œI think he will return in the short term, it doesn’t take long,” Ten Hag added.

β€œWe are looking forward of course, Luke Shaw is a very important player for our team.

β€œHe is massively important so we want to get back as soon as possible but we can’t force this process.”

The manager doesn’t hide away from the fact that United are still without key players due to injury, including Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro.

β€œThe issues are there, but it’s not about the players who are not available. Like I said last season, it’s about the players who are available and we have a good group.

β€œWe can make a strong selection, we can put out a strong team, so we will do.”
