‘Don’t know how it’s possible’: Scholes left bewildered by United attacker’s stat against Liverpool
Paul Scholes was left perplexed by Rasmus Hojlund’s performance against Liverpool, as the young forward extended an unwanted streak.
Sunday’s stalemate at Anfield marked 13 Premier League games for Hojlund without netting his maiden goal, and it’s fair to say that some supporters are growing concerned about when the first contribution will come from the £72 million man.
Others are opting to be more patient and lenient with the 20-year-old, partly because of his young age, but also because of how he fared in the Champions League; he found the back of the net five times across the six group-stage games and was United’s only silver lining of the dismal campaign.
Former Reds critical of Hojlund
Yesterday, Hojlund came the closest to ending United’s tedious five-year wait for a goal at Anfield. He came one-on-one with Alisson Becker in the second half but saw his attempts saved by the Brazilian after firing them straight at the goalkeeper – a phase of play which Roy Keane believes Hojlund could’ve done better in.
Paul Scholes also weighed in on the young Dane’s showing, particularly on how little Hojlund saw of the ball across the clash.
He said on Premier League Productions: “People like Hojlund, not really touched the ball. Four touches. I don’t know how it’s possible for a footballer to play, what was it 47 minutes?! And he’s only touched the ball four times, it’s incredible.”
