Erik ten Hag confident in Hojlund and Rashford amid goal droughts for Manchester United

Erik ten Hag maintains full belief in Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford as the forwards look to reignite their best form.

Hojlund has quickly become a fan favourite among the Old Trafford faithful for the highly-promising showings he’s put out so far. Whilst he is still awaiting his maiden Premier League goal, he already has three in the Champions League and will be looking to add to his tally tomorrow evening when Manchester United take on Copenhagen.

As for Rashford, he is on the back of his most prolific season to date after netting 30 goals for the first time in his career. This term though, he has only found the back of the net once, and it looks as though his confidence drops a little with every game that passes.

Still, the manager doesn’t harbour any concerns at this stage and has instead reiterated his confidence in the pair.

When asked about Hojlund’s form, he said (via ManUtd.com): β€œSo first of all, we have to focus on our routines. He missed pre-season, he missed the first four games but from the moment he came in, he gave the team a lot. But when the routines, the combinations and the cooperation will be better, I think that split moment will give him more time and make better decisions to score more goals. But I think the goals you reference against Galatasaray were definitely two brilliant goals. As well, also the one in Munich. But I think he is a player he is always in scoring positions in our team and I am sure.”

He added: β€œI am confident as well as for Marcus Rashford, the same. They will always, in every game, when we as a team do what we have to do, they will always be in scoring positions. Then it is about the finishing. When you analyse all the games so far, we have seen that they are in scoring positions.”
