Erik ten Hag expects full-back to return against Copenhagen
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Sergio Reguilon could be available for Manchester United when they take on Copenhagen on Tuesday night.
Reguilon has not featured for United since the 1-0 win over Burnley in September, which has left Erik ten Hag without a recognised left-back in recent matches.
The Spaniard wasnβt named in the match day squad at the weekend, but after a week of training behind him he should be in better shape to return for the Champions League encounter.
Ten Hag was asked to provide an update on players returning returning from injury when he told reporters (via Manchester Evening News): βYes we hope [to have players back]. Sergio trained all week, today he will train, then we have to assess if he is game fit or can be available for the squad.β
Since the jury is still out on Reguilonβs fitness, Ten Hag may have to opt for Victor Lindelof at left-back again.
United go into Tuesdayβs game in need of three points after losing the first two matches in the group phase. As things stand, the Reds are bottom of the group and face an uphill battle to reach the last 16 of the competition.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain long-term absentees which means Reguilon will get plenty of opportunities if he can stay fit.
