Erik ten Hag singles out Manchester United star after Sheffield United win
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag spoke highly of Scott McTominay after Saturdayβs 2-1 win over Sheffield United.
The Scotland international continued his goalscoring form with a first-half opener to take his tally to three goals in two games.
However, United failed to keep a hold on their lead. It wasnβt long before a McTominay handball resulted in a Sheffield United penalty which Oliver McBurnie scored.
The win takes United to 8th in the Premier League, but it was another unconvincing display as far as fans will be concerned. McTominay scored but his overall performance wasnβt great.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Ten Hag hailed McTominay for his goal after showing a relentless mindset to get to the right places at the right time.
βScott McTominay is a very good finisher,β Ten Hag said. βHe arrived there at the right moment and it was good goal.β
The midfielder scored two stoppage-time goals to complete a dramatic comeback win over Brentford prior to the international break.
McTominay was linked with a move away from United in the summer. Now he is proving to be an important member in Ten Hagβs squad.
Hopefully, he can find the net against Man City in the derby next weekend.
