Galatasaray hellbent on signing out-of-contract Manchester United player
Galatasaray are reportedly keen to lure Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof to the west side of Istanbul.
The Yellow-and-Reds are the reigning champions of Turkiye, and their ranks include some bonafide stars, the likes of Mauro Icardi, Victor Osimhen and Hakim Ziyech.
The Istanbul giants are always on the lookout for big names, and have apparently set their sights on Lindelof whose contract with the Red Devils is set to expire at the end of the season.
According to Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, the Premier League giants are unlikely to extend the Sweden internationalβs contract beyond the current campaign. The 30-year-old has only made seven appearances since the start of the season, accumulating less than 300 minutes.
Lindelof has only recently made his return from injury, but his situation might not necessarily improve under Ruben Amorim, especially with the new Man United boss taken away by Harry Maguireβs recent exploits at the back.
Hence, the two parties will likely split paths in June, and Galatasaray will be looking to pounce on the situation, claims the report. The Turkish giants are reportedly dreaming about a big signing at the back, and Lindelof could be the ideal solution, given that heβll be available on a free transfer.
Man United centre-back Victor Lindelof linked with Galatasaray move
After turning 30 in July, the former Benfica man could be open to a move to Turkiye, especially if doesnβt receive enticing offers from the top European leagues.
The source mentions recent links with Juventus, but the Serie A giants appear more interested in other profiles at the moment, the likes of Benfica youngster Antonio Silva and Feyenoordβs David Hancko.
In the meantime, Lindelof will be looking to improve his playing time at Old Trafford, as if itβs going to be his final season at the club, heβll want to leave on a positive note.
