GMP trying to establish circumstances behind serious allegations made against Antony

It’s one bad story after another at Manchester United after Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they were investigating claims Antony had assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

After the whole Mason Greenwood case, it sounds like United are back in the middle of another media storm as another alleged domestic abuse case against one of their players emerges.

Antony has had serious allegations – made by his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin – of physical assault and the claim that the player threatened to kill her and attacked her with a glass.

The accusations were published by Brazilian website UOL.

Brazil have already cut Antony from their squad for the next round of internationals as a result of the ongoing case against the player.

Now, the world is watching to see how United manage to deal with the acquisitions made against Antony. Richard Arnold will want to avoid another PR disaster for the club, but their reputation was tarnished throughout the internal investigation into Greenwood.

The club are under enormous pressure to drop Antony – the same way Brazil did –

Furthermore, The Telegraph (Β£) has published a statement from the GMP.

β€œGreater Manchester Police is aware of the allegations made and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report.

β€œWe will not be commenting any further at this time.”

Manchester United have yet to comment on Antony’s situation.
