Man Utd eyeing move for legendary club captain to replace ‘erratic’ Ten Hag signing
Manchester United are reportedly pondering a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen who has seemingly become surplus to requirements.
The 33-year-old has been serving the Blaugrana cause since making the switch from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2014. He has gone on to win a host of trophies, including six LaLiga titles, six Copa del Rey trophies, and one Champions League title, followed by a FIFA Club World Cup.
However, Ter Stegen suffered an injury at the start of this season which prompted Barca to call Wojciech Szczesny from retirement. The Pole performed admirably in goal, proving he’s more than deserving of a starting role. Moreover, the Catalan giants signed Joan Garcia on a €25 million deal from their local rivals, Espanyol, suggesting that the German’s services are no longer needed.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen destined to leave Barcelona

With the writing on the wall for the Barcelona club, Fichajes believes all signs are pointing towards a Premier League move.
The Spanish portal thus expects Man Utd and Chelsea to battle it out for the favour of the experienced, as they’re both seeking an upgrade between the posts.
Can Man Utd make room for Ter Stegen?
While the Red Devils haven’t officially placed Andre Onana on the transfer list, they would certainly cherish the opportunity to replace him with a more reliable keeper.
The Cameroonian has endured two rough campaigns at Old Trafford, filled with shocking blunders, and has been described as an ‘erratic’ player.
It should be noted that Ter Stegen is tied to Barcelona with a contract valid until 2028, but one would imagine that the Spanish champions would facilitate his departure in order to trim their wage bill and avoid additional problems related to LaLiga’s FFP rules.
Man United have also been linked with other goalkeepers, and chief among them is Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez who is said to be open to joining Ruben Amorim’s ranks.
