Manchester United close in on Β£60m deal for Mason Mount
Manchester United are making progress in their pursuit to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. It looks like the England international will be Erik ten Hagβs first signing of the summer transfer window.
According to The Mirror, Manchester United are closing in on an agreement with Chelsea to complete a deal worth Β£60 million.
The Reds have already had two bids rejected by Chelsea, who initially wanted Β£70m for the England international, even though thereβs just 12 months left on his current deal.
Mount does not intend to sign a new contract at Chelsea, so the Blues must decide whether to cash in now or let him leave for free in the summer of 2024.
The report adds that Erik ten Hag is keen to have the deal wrapped up before the clubβs pre-season tour, which begins on July 12 against Leeds in Oslo.
Mount will give the Dutchman more options in midfield as he can play in multiple roles.
He is also a player with an eye for a pass in the final third, so hopefully his potential arrival helps the team score more goals next season.
