Manchester United confirm new date for Nottingham Forest clash
Manchester United’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest becomes the latest on a long list of fixtures to be rescheduled this season.
The decision was made to accommodate the upcoming Europa League quarter-finals against Seville, with Manchester United having a knack for knocking Spanish teams out of Europe this season.
Although Erik ten Hag has already won a trophy in his first season in charge, the Dutchman is trying to complete a clean sweep of cups this season.
United discovered their fate in the Europa League on Friday afternoon when they were drawn against Seville. A quick return to Seville for those who were in the city for United’s last-16 clash over Real Betis on Thursday night.
Anyhow, the first leg against Sevilla will be played at Old Trafford on Thursday, April 13, with kick-off at 8pm. The Reds were scheduled to be in action against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League just two days later on Saturday, April 15, but now that match has been pushed back to Sunday, April 16, to give Ten Hag’s side a little more time to recover. Sky Sports will televise the 4:30pm kick-off.
This news has been confirmed via ManUtd.com.
The second leg against Seville will be played a week later, on April 20, at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. It will be an 8pm kick-off, too.
Thankfully there was no need to rearrange the Premier League fixture against Chelsea at Old Trafford the following weekend because it was already set for Sunday, April 22.
