Manchester United monitor anonymous X account leaking first-team news

It’s no secret that Manchester United keep an eye on plenty of social media accounts. The club isΒ angry about first team leaks, but the real shame is they couldn’t care less about leaks in the roof at Old Trafford.

There has been several fans given a slap on the wrist for sharing team news in the past, but rarely does that get attention from mainstream media.

According to the Daily Mail, United are closely monitoring a new anonymous account on X, formerly known as Twitter, which is renowned for leaking injury updates and team news ahead of first-team matches.

The account in question is @YO_INSIDERUTD, which was created earlier this year, but it has today been deactivated after promising to stop posting on match days as it clearly gives opponents an advantage ahead of games.

United are understood to be investigating the source of the leaks to root out any moles, but it looks like they’ve got their wish (for now) with the account no longer active.

That doesn’t mean the mole won’t drip feed information elsewhere.

β€œPreparation for games these days is so thorough that leaked information about team line-ups and injuries can give the opposition an advantage to exploit,” a club source told the Daily Mail.

β€œUnited fans should be hounding out these accounts that routinely leak this kind of information, and questioning what is their motivation for doing it.”
