Manchester United see Premier League fixture postponed due to opponentsโ€™ FA Cup progression

Manchester United will see their Premier League away fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion rescheduled due to the Seagullsโ€™ FA Cup progression.ย

Roberto De Zerbi oversaw a 1-0 win at the Bet365 Stadium this evening against Championship side Stoke City, with the only goal of the game coming through star youngster Evan Ferguson.

United were due to make the trip to the Amex on Sunday, March 19, however, this fixture will now be postponed, as confirmed by Simon Stone.

The reverse match was on the opening day of the 2022/2023 campaign on August 7 โ€“ the first game of Erik ten Hagโ€™s tenure. It ended 2-1 in Brightonโ€™s favour after a dismal display from the Reds at Old Trafford.

Things have changed drastically since then, though. United now sit third in the league and are unbeaten in 18 games on home turf, with their form being almost equally impressive away from home. The Reds are the only English team in contention for the three remaining competitions, having just won the first final of the season.

They face their own fifth-round FA Cup tie tomorrow evening against West Ham United.

One downside to the postponement is that the game will likely be rescheduled to a midweek outing, which adds to Unitedโ€™s already ridiculous fixture congestion; the team played a whopping eight fixtures across February, overseeing six wins and two draws.
