Manchester United starlet makes BBC team of the week after 3-0 win over Everton
Manchester United beat Everton 3-0 on the road over the weekend, though only one of our players made it to the team of the week.
Garth Crooksβ Team of the Week for BBC Sport consisted of: Ederson; Alexander-Arnold, Lascelles, Ake; Olise, Kudus, Rice, Gordon; Pedro, Haaland, Garnacho.
Itβs great to see Garnachoβs efforts at Goodison Park recognised and few can argue against his inclusion in the side. However, Iβd go as far to say 18-year-old midfielder Kobbie Mainoo was unlucky to miss out after his full Premier League debut.
However, Garnacho took the headlines for his incredible acrobatic finish to open the scoring just three minutes in. Everton were unable to respond and lost 3-0 after being docked 10 points by the Premier League.
Crooksβ reasoning behind Garnachoβs selection was: βI saw it but Iβm not sure I could believe it. The overhead bicycle kick by Alejandro Garnacho for Manchester United against Everton was amazing. The timing and execution of the technique was as good as Iβve seen. It will probably win goal of the season and we are only in November. It was that impressive. The goal also settled Manchester United down and they looked comfortable for much of the first half. The mere fact that lad did very little else throughout this match should tell you just how good the goal was. Itβs goals that count and this was a belter.β
The overhead kick was sensational and itβs great to see Garnacho get the credit he deserves. It is without question the best goal Iβve seen in a long, long time and I think itβs better than Wayne Rooneyβs overhead-kick in the Manchester derby.
Hats off to the kid and we all know heβll be trying to better it against Galatasaray.
