However, Newcastle World believe Akachukwu will visit Newcastle United next week ahead of a potential move.
The report also claims that Newcastle were not alone when showing admiration for the player. Alongside the Magpies were Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal.
The versatile midfielder will be hoping to complete his big switch across the pond to a Premier League outfit this summer, especially as Evan Ferguson stands tall as the latest inspiration for young Irish footballers after moving to Brighton from Bohemians.
Akachukwu is highly thought of at Waterford FC, a club with an ever growing academy, and his remarkable feat of playing for the club at every age level from U-13 to first-team shows the type of work being done by the League of Ireland outfit to develop their emerging stars.
