Newcastle interested in Manchester United youngster with contract set to expire
Erik ten Hag is set to let one of his talented young players leave Manchester United for free this summer.
According to Manchester World, Ethan Galbraith is set to leave the club this summer.
The midfielderβs contract expires at the end of the season and United have the option to extend his current deal by a further 12 months.
This will raise questions about why United donβt offer him a new deal to try get money in return, but I am sure the coaches at the club are in a better position to pass judgement, along with the manager.
When you look at the excitement building around Kobbie Mainoo this year, thereβs a chance that Galbraith has fallen down the pecking order, so it may be best for him to move on and try to build a career elsewhere.
In fact, the report states that United have decided against giving Galbraith an extension because they feel there is little chance of recouping a significant fee for his signature.
Manchester World add that Galbraith is already attracting interest from the likes of Newcastle, Stoke City, Sunderland and Derby County. It is believed that the Magpies would send him out on loan next season, should he move to St. Jamesβ Park.
The 21-year-old has been on loan at Salford City in League Two this season and he will want to continue playing first team football next season.
