Parker: Manchester United should be happy finishing 3rd in Champions League group
Paul Parker has shared his thoughts on the match between Manchester United and FC Copenhagen tonight as well as our chances of reaching the knockout phase.
The Reds face a must-win Champions League meeting with the Danish outfit after a disastrous start to their European campaign following losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
Those two defeats leave United bottom of Group A, so Erik ten Hagβs side have a lot of catching up to doβ¦ starting tonight!
βIβve said it this whole time that Man United should be very happy if they could finish second in this group but now I think they should be extremely satisfied with just playing in the Europa League after the Christmas,β Parker told Danish magazine Tipsbladet.
In the same interview, Parker spoke about how Rasmus Hojlund will be aiming to score against his former club. The 20-year-old has three goals in two Premier League matches since joining the Reds in the summer.
The former United full-back added: βRasmus Hojlund for sure wants to prove a point against his boyhood club who didnΒ΄t believe in his abilities and if Man United want to get something out of this game, then they have to rely on him because he is their biggest threat and he wants to prove that he can achieve something at Man United after FC Copenhagen got rid of him for a ridiculous low amount of money.β
βThe way he is playing, reminds me of an old fashioned English centre forward and I believe he is the one that has to give Man United the win.β
Furthermore, Parker is expecting a difficult game under the floodlights at Old Trafford. He is hoping United donβt underestimate Copenhagen on the night.
βI think Man United will win at Old Trafford but in the away game in Parken, with their strong home record Man United should be lucky to get away with one point. It will be like playing in front of a hundred thousand people because of all the noise they can make.
βWhatever happens in Parken, FC Copenhagen canβt lose against Man United. They just canβt and I think they should be happy with four points in total from those two games.β
