Alejandro Garnacho did his bit to stop Copenhagen from scoring a last-gasp spot-kick that would’ve seen Manchester United drop two crucial points.
The Red Devils were leading 1-0 in the closing stages of the Champions League clash at Old Trafford thanks to a moment of magic from Harry Maguire, who is in incredible form as of late.
In a match that couldn’t have been anything less of a win for United – given that they started the game rock bottom of Group A – fans’ hearts were in their mouths when in the fourth minute of injury time, the referee blew his whistle for a Copenhagen penalty.
It came from Scott McTominay’s high boot in Andre Onana’s area and after a brief VAR check, the penalty was awarded.
Thankfully, Jordan Larsson’s shot struck the glove of Onana, with the Cameroonian’s heroics proving invaluable to United’s European run.
Post-match, viewers at home spotted that during the VAR review, Garnacho had been digging his heels in an attempt to scuff the penalty spot, with the officials blissfully unaware.
