Portsmouth manager happy with Manchester United loaneeβs solid debut
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho was impressed by Manchester United loanee DiβShon Bernardβs debut appearance on Saturday.
Bernard joined the League One outfit on transfer deadline day until the end of the season.
The defender made the starting line-up for the 1-1 draw with Barnsley, which leaves Pompey sat in 10th place.
Speaking about Bernardβs performance, Mousinho told The News: βDiβShon was really solid and there are a couple of things to work on in terms of being able to play that position. Itβs really different to a centre-half, you have to be aware of a lot more. We were asking DiβShon to press the left wing-back, but then also cover the other side for the two centre-forwards and Herbie Kane. It was a big ask for him, but we knew he could do it β and I think he did. Heβs a big guy, heβs quick, heβs strong and aggressive and can play as well.β
We hope that Bernard can continue to impress at Portsmouth for the remainder of the season.
