Preview: Southampton vs Manchester United

Manchester United will be looking at making it back to back wins when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a terrific 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford, whilst the Saints ran out 3-0 winners over Cambridge United in the League Cup midweek.

New signing Casemiro could be handed his first team debut against Southampton after joining the club from Real Madrid last week, but sadly we will be without Anthony Martial after the Frenchman suffered a fresh injury.

After a disastrous start to the new campaign, the win over Liverpool on Monday night couldn’t have come at a better time for Manchester United. The pressure had been building following back to back successive defeats against Brighton and Brentford but, by beating Liverpool, you hope a corner has now been turned and in facing Southampton it provides the Reds another opportunity to keep the momentum going.

The Saints have endured a mixed start to the season under Ralph Hasenhuttl and currently sit 11th in the Premier League table. Southampton can be more than a match for anyone on their day particularly at home and it certainly wont be easy, however, this is still a game I expect United to take all three points from.

The momentum and mood you feel has changed for the better following the victory over Liverpool and I am confident United can get the win needed here.

Elanga, Sancho, Rashford are all likely to start against the Saints and if they manage to preform like we did on Monday night then we should have far too much firepower for the hosts and be leaving St Mary’s with all three points.

Prediction: Southampton 1-3 Manchester United
