Rasmus Hojlund opens up on back injury that delayed Manchester United debut
Rasmus Hojlund arrived at Carrington injured when he signed for Manchester United at the beginning of August.Β
The 20-year-oldβs debut was consequently delayed a month, with his maiden outing coming against Arsenal on Sunday as a late, off-the-bench cameo. His brief appearance had supporters on the edge of their seats with each touch of the ball, so the Old Trafford faithful are eagerly awaiting his first start.
Assuming heβs a success, Hojlund could realistically lead the line for the Red Devils for the next decade. This does mean taking utmost care of his fitness and well-being though, something that the club are guilty of ignoring in the past β i.e. Marcus Rashfordβs double stress fracture in his back was frequently ignored until he was forced to oversee a lengthy layoff.
It seems as though United may have learnt from their previous mistakes though, given that they prolonged Hojlundβs debut until he reached full fitness.
Hojlund opens up on injury woes
He addressed the matter himself while preparing for international duty with Denmark and while speaking to Bold DK.
βI had a small problem in the start-up in Atalanta, and then they found something on the scanner that had to be respected. So Iβve had a period here [at United] where Iβve de-loaded a bit, and now Iβm ready to give it full throttle again.
βIt was a small thing and I have never really been able to feel any pain myself at any time,βΒ the striker added.Β βIt was just something that had to be respected and it has been done, so now itβs just out of the way.
βThere was a lot to focus on so it was a β what do you say β rollercoaster ride in many ways, but I wouldnβt say that I was worried at any point.βΒ
