Real Betis starlet emerges on Manchester United’s radar after impressive start to the season

Real Betis are being credited after unearthing a gem in 18-year-old winger Assane Diao.

It is believed that Real Betis sporting director Ramon Planes is under pressure to secure Diao’s future as a number of Premier League clubs begin to show an interest in the youngster.

Diao made his Betis debut this season, but he has quickly caught attention with his pace, neat dribbling and eye for goal. In turn, the talented youngster has started in their last seven La Liga games under Manuel Pellegrini – registering four goals in 11 appearances this season.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Manchester United are one of four Premier League clubs looking at Diao as an option in the transfer market. The other clubs include Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The aim for Betis will be to get maximum value out of a sale for Diao. He’s hardly had time in their first team and it already sounds like they’ll have clubs knocking on their door seeking his signature.

It is believed that Diao’s current release clause stands at €30 million, but Betis want to give him a pay rise and increase that figure to €40-50m, depending on how negotiations go with his entourage.

We’ll keep our eyes on Diao this season. That’s for sure.
