Report: Erling Haaland Hands Manchester City Training Ground Boost

Erling Haaland returned to training today, handing Pep Guardiola a boost as they look to a busy schedule in the upcoming month.

Erling Haaland was ruled out of international duty for Norway in the Euro 2024 qualifiers and missed Manchester City‘s 4-1 victory against Liverpool in the Premier League but looked to return against Southampton on Saturday.Β

The 22-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Norwegian squad due to a groin injury he picked up in the FA Cup victory against Burnley, which was monitored at a private hospital in Barcelona.Β

The news that Haaland is back in training will be a massive boost to Pep Guardiola and his side as they continue their fine league form away to the Saints, who currently sit bottom of the Premier League with just one victory and two draws, in their last five league games.Β

Haaland has been breaking records this season and has been in great formΒ scoringΒ  42 goals in 37 games in all competitions. This includes six hat-tricks and a record-equaling five-goal haul against RB Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League round of 16.

Guardiola and the Manchester City faithful will be hoping Haaland’s run of form continues as they look to put more pressure on Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title, along with progressing in the Emirates FA Cup and going all the way in the quest for their, so far elusive, first Champions League trophy.Β

With Haalang back in training, Guardiola won’t take a risk on the prolific striker just yet as Julian Alvarez stepped up in the home game versus Liverpool, leading the line and levelled after Mohamed Salah put the visitors in front. And the revival against Jurgen Klopp‘s side was started after a fantastic team goal, finished off by the Argentine international after a clever assist fromΒ Jack Grealish, who confirmed all three points by scoring the final City goal later in the second half.Β Β
