Report: European Giants Are Monitoring Manchester City Star

Manchester City may have a fight on their hands should they want to keep hold of Joao Cancelo in the summer.

2023 has not been a good one for Portuguese international Joao Cancelo due to the fact he lost his place at Manchester City after he had a training ground bust-up with Pep Guardiola.

City loaned him out on deadline day in January which was a surprise for everyone as he had been an important player for Guardiola helping his side win the league with his creative touch from left-back.

Things haven’t exactly went swimmingly for him at Bayern Munich either.

He started very well but Julian Nagelsmann decided that he did not trust him enough to be starting however the young German coach since then has been sacked with Thomas Tuchel replacing him and in his first game for the club he also decided to start him on the bench.

However this hasn’t stopped other top clubs being linked with the defender as reportedly Barcelona and Real Madrid are monitoring the situation so City could have a battle on their hands if they want to keep him.

That is a big if though as it appears that his time is up at the club due to the relationship he has with Guardiola being non-existent after his behaviour before he left in January.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both looking at left-backs and due to their front foot playing style Cancelo could be ideal for either club with a bidding war potentially set to start for his services in the summer.
