It’s safe to say that all parties involved in Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo are pulling their hair out over the prolonged negotiations.
Not least the player himself, either, as the Standard reports this morning that the 25-year-old is growing ‘increasingly frustrated’ at the ongoing saga.
It’s now been over five weeks since Mbeumo’s preference to join the Red Devils became public knowledge and over a month since their first bid, worth £55 million, was submitted and subsequently rebuffed by Brentford.
United then waited until the end of June to return with an improved proposal, offering the same initial fee plus £7.5m in add-ons, which would take the fee up to the price they agreed to pay for Matheus Cunha: £62.5m. However, this, too, was rejected.

It’s expected INEOS chiefs will test Brentford’s resolve again in the coming days, although it’s ludicrous that it’s even got to this stage, given Ruben Amorim wanted any new signings in his ranks in time for pre-season kicking off on Monday.
Instead, the boss had only two new faces reporting back to Carrington yesterday in the form of Cunha and youngster Diego Leon, with the latter agreeing his transfer from Cerro Porteno back in January.

Elanga, a Carrington graduate, is poised to join Newcastle United this week from Nottingham Forest in a package worth over £52m. United included a 20 per cent sell-on clause in his exit terms when he departed Old Trafford in 2023, meaning they stand to make around £8m through the deal.
Additionally, Madueke, who is two years younger than Mbeumo but scored 13 fewer Premier League goals (seven) than the Cameroonian (20) last season, has been valued in excess of £50m by Chelsea amid interest from rivals Arsenal.
