Richard Dunne backs Man City to win derby
Former Man City defender Richard Dunne is backing his old club to beat Manchester United in Sundayβs Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
A huge derby awaits on Sunday at 3:30pm with City needing a result to stay in contention with Arsenal and Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, United have struggled since pre-season and sit in eight place. Erik ten Hag will be hoping for a derby day win to help boost their rise up the table.
Speaking to BoyleSports, as relayed by the Manchester Evening News, Dunne said: βI think thereβs a difference between City and United over a league campaign and youβd bet that City will finish above them.
βThe derbies, however, teach you that anything can happen. Teams can have one-off performances. United were the best team in the world in my day, and City used to beat them occasionally. I would say City are the favourites on a normal day and I think theyβll win 2-0.β
United go into the derby after three wins on the bounce. On Tuesday night it took a goal from an unlikely source in Harry Maguire and a dramatic, stoppage-time penalty save from Andre Onana. That was enough for United to overcome a poor display to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
