Roy Keane not convinced Chelsea midfielder would improve Manchester United
Roy Keane doesnβt believe Chelsea star Mason Mount would improve Manchester United after going βoff the boilβ at Stamford Bridge.
Questions were asked over the weekend as to whether Mount made his final steps on the Stamford Bridge turf as a Chelsea player following their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on the final day of the league season.
The England international had had contract talks with Chelsea, but thereβs been a delay as well as strong links to Manchester United.
Liverpool were already linked with a move for Mount this summer, but David Ornstein from The Athletic believes the 24-year-old has a preference to join United if he leaves Chelsea.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph claim Ten Hag is making a big push to add Mount to his squad this summer.
Mount missed the closing stages of the season through injury and β after the season they had β I donβt think he can be singled out for going βoff the boilβ.
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane says he is excited by the prospect of his former club signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, although the Irishman is not convinced that Mount would improve Erik ten Hagβs side.
βListen, theyβre going to be linked with lots of players but the one that would excite you really is Kane.
βHeβs [Mount] just gone off the boil a little bit. He can bounce back and heβs got quality, I was raving about him a few years ago but heβs just gone missing the last year or two.
βAgain, one or two injuries and the fact he canβt get in the Chelsea team I wouldnβt be hanging my hat too much on him to improve United and close the gap.
βI think heβs a good player but would he improve Man United? Iβm not so sure. I think Rice would, Rice would be a decent signing, but in terms of the excitement and goalscoring, Iβd go all-in for Kane. But, can I see Spurs selling to Man United? Very, very difficult.β
“The fact is he can’t get in a bad Chelsea team.”
