Sheikh Jassim set for Old Trafford talks as eight parties are involved in potential Man United sale
The potential sale of Manchester United is heating up as the Glazer family, who have been majority owners since 2005, are now entertaining a second round of bidding for the club.
The first round of bids was widely covered but only two bids for 100% of the club were made public, with Sheikh Jassim and his Qatari consortium seemingly battling it out with Sir Jim Ratcliffeβs INEOS bid.
Neither of the bids submitted are said to be enough to acquire the club but further talks are planned and Sheikh Jassimβs representatives are believed to be making the trip to Manchester for talks.
Thatβs according to the Telegraph, who say that Ratcliffeβs entourage are also in Manchester holding talks as a whopping eight groups are involved in the potential sale of the club.
Of the eight interested parties, itβs claimed that not all are interested in acquiring 100% of the club, with some only interested in minority stakes.
Elliott Management burst onto the scene last month but the hedge fund is believed to be interested in financing a potential sale and potentially acquiring a minority stake.
As per the report, meetings with Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim will be followed by another meeting with an unnamed interested group before the Glazer decide on which party to proceed with.
In an exciting update from a supportersβ viewpoint, itβs almost claimed that the sale of United is going according to plan and a deal could be reached by the end of next month amid fears it could drag on.
The Glazer family are reportedly asking for at least Β£5bn to part ways with the club and as things stand, none of the bids submitted have been sufficient as of yet.
SNβs verdictβ¦
It does look like things are moving along nicely but there is no telling whether the Glazer family are fully committed to selling their entire stake in the club.
However, if the reports are to be believed and a full takeover is completed before the end of the season, it would mark a significant change for the Reds.
