The transfer window has closed for Premier League clubs but that is not the case in all big leagues, with Manchester United still able to offload some of their players to balance the books.

Donny van de Beek has been the subject of a number of stories this summer but the Dutchman remains at the club one week after the domestic window closed.

It’s highly unlikely that Van de Beek will be given a look in this season and earlier this season, Ten Hag revealed that the midfielder had been left out of a matchday squad due to ongoing speculation surrounding his future.

The former Ajax star has endured three highly turbulent years since he was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and to make matters worse, he sustained a serious knee injury halfway through last season which prematurely ended that campaign.

He did, however, recover in time to take part in pre-season and he has been searching for a new club since then. Real Sociedad were said to be interested but a move never materialised and the Spanish window is now closed.

Clubs in Turkey are, however, still able to sign players and it is now being reported that two Turkish giants are in the race to sign Van de Beek before their Thursday transfer deadline.

The Turkish transfer window is open for another six days and according to Football Insider, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are among the sides monitoring Van de Beek.

After sending Eric Bailly and Fred to the Turkish league, it is now reported that United want Van de Beek to join his former team-mates there to free up squad space and wages.

Van de Beek was not named in United’s Champions League squad and with two years remaining on his contract, now could be the perfect time to cut their losses.

Should he remain at Old Trafford, it is likely that he will spend another year on the sidelines and waste what could be a crucial 12 months for him in his bid to resurrect his career.

As things stand, there are a number of players ahead of him in the pecking order and Sofyan Amrabat’s deadline day arrival has certainly only complicated things for Van de Beek.
