When Manchester United signed Lisandro Martinez from Ajax a lot of pundits made a big issue about the Argentine’s size.

While he has silenced his critics this season, Martinez will face a tall order in the Manchester derby when he faces Erling Haaland this weekend.

Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan has given his verdict on the match-up, as per Sky Sports News. He said: “You have to be quicker, you have to read the passing lines and that’s what Martinez is really good at.”

United fans don’t need to worry because when the pair went head-to-head last season, City’s new boy didn’t get a sniff. Martinez had Haaland in his pocket as Ajax beat Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the Champions League.

On the night, Martinez made four tackles and four interceptions, as well as preventing Haaland from scoring. He will be hoping to do the same on Sunday against City.
