West Ham star raves about Casemiro ahead of Premier League meeting
West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta has waxed lyrical about Manchester United midfielder and his national team compatriot Casemiro ahead of Manchester United’s away game against West Ham.
Citing Casemiro as an “example to follow as a player and a professional”, Paqueta said he has learned a lot from him and that Casemiro is a “great person”.

“Casemiro is a great player and a friend, and I’m looking forward to playing against him on Sunday. He’s an example to follow as a person and a professional. He does so much to improve as a player when he’s not at the training ground – the way he recovers – I have seen it when I’m with the national team. He has all his routines that he does at home. I have learnt a lot from him. He’s a great person and obviously a great player too.”
Casemiro’s impact at Manchester United
Needless to say, Casemiro is widely beloved in the footballing world for his abilities as well as his personality.
The Brazilian’s presence at the base of the midfield has transformed Manchester United’s game. His partnership with Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen is still unbeaten this season (20 games, 16 wins, four draws).
Manager Erik ten Hag has lauded his skill in breaking up opposition attacks and Casemiro has also shown off his expansive passing range this season. The team always looks like they have a soft underbelly in his absence, being routinely susceptible to counter attacks.
Furthermore, his big-game credentials have come to the fore, with crucial contributions at key moments. Be it the first goal in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle, or the late, late equaliser at Stamford Bridge, Casemiro has instantly gained cult status with United fans.
He will likely be directly up against his national team compatriot Lucas Paqueta when United travel to West Ham.
